INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ

Thorough review of "INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ"!

I'll be doing a thorough review of "HG 1/144 Infinite Justice Gundam Type II" from the movie "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM"! Let's take a closer look at how it differs from the standard "Infinite Justice Gundam" in this Gunpla review.

They look similar, but they're quite different!

First, let's take a look at the specifications of "Infinite Justice Gundam Type II" (hereinafter referred to as "Type II"). As its name suggests, the Type II is a modified version of "Infinite Justice Gundam" (hereinafter referred to as "Infinite Justice"). While some weapons, such as the "Rifle" and "Shield", have been carried over from the original design, "Type II" features new additions such as the beam blade "Spitze Schwert Beam Horn" on the head and the newly designed wing "Volantes" on the backpack.

Although the two are quite similar, the body shape and color have changed, and the new design is a key feature of the Gundam model kit.

Let's first compare it with "HGCE 1/144 Infinite Justice Gundam" released in 2020 and clarify exactly what has changed!

INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
HGCE 1/144 Infinite Justice Gundam (left) and new HG 1/144 Infinite Justice Gundam Type II (right).
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
The biggest difference is, of course, the backpack! In "Infinite Justice", it was equipped with the "MS Support Aerial Maneuvering Vehicle Fatum-01" to improve mobility, but in "Type II", it is equipped with the "M2X32E Volantes", which features X-shaped wings.

At first glance, "Type II" appears to be largely unchanged, but upon closer inspection, it is evident that the molded color has shifted to a more reddish hue. While it retains common weaponry such as "rifle" and "shield", it is notable that the entire body has been recreated with a new design. Let's now examine it in greater detail!

INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
Comparison of the head. In "Infinite Justice", there were four machine guns built into the cheeks on both sides, but in "Type II", the number was reduced to two on the forehead on both sides. The name also changed from "14mm twin close-range defense machine gun" to "Sagittus II 20mm CIWS".
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
Furthermore, in "Type II", by tilting the top part forward and attaching the beam effect part, it is possible to deploy a beam blade called “Spitze Schwert Beam Horn".
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
The chest area no longer has green lines and has a simple color scheme. The four machine guns built into the chest area are the same, but the name has changed from "17.5mm CIWS" to "Hageleisen 20mm CIWS".
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
The shoulder designs are similar, but when compared, it becomes clear that the shapes are quite different, with "Type II" having a protruding part on the front of the shoulder.
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
The arms are similar, but the shape of the upper arm and wrist areas are different.
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
The silver parts of "Type II" model feature a material called "Real Metallic Gloss Injection" that enhances the metallic luster, giving it a more glossy appearance. It may be difficult to see in the image, but in reality, it reproduces a "sparkling yet calm color tone".
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
The waist area mainly features changes to the front skirt design. Both figures are equipped with beam sabers on the left and right sides of the waist, but the shape of the grips is different. This is because the equipment of "Infinite Justice" is "Super Lacerta Beam Saber", which is an improved version of "Lacerta" equipped by "Justice" and others, while "Type II" uses "Beam Saber Acuta Lacerta", which is the same type as "Strike Freedom Gundam Type II".
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
Both feature a "hip joint range of motion expansion gimmick", but here too, the "Type II" has a new design, so the moving gimmick itself is different.
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
In "Infinite Justice", it was necessary to open the rear armor of the waist once to expand the range of motion, but in "Type II", it can be opened outward as is. However, it is designed to be a little tight, so please be careful not to damage it when expanding it!
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
The legs also have a similar design, but if you look closely, you can see that the shape around the knees is different.

First, we compared the main bodies. At first glance, these two figures look quite similar, but when viewed up close, you can see that they have different designs. "TYpe II" model uses "real metallic gloss injection" for the silver parts, so even those who don't usually paint can enjoy high-quality metallic finishes!

"Volantes" wing, with its distinctive "X" shape, can be displayed on its own!

Another eye-catching item this time is "Volantes" backpack. Developed by Morgenrote, it is an advanced version of "EW454F Ootori" striker pack, capable of ultra-high-speed combat and can also be used as a standalone assault weapon. For this reason, it has been designed so that "Volantes" can be displayed on its own.

INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
This is a display of "Volantes" alone. There are 3mm holes on the bottom for stands, so it is compatible with 3mm shaft type stands such as action bases.
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
This is the back of "Infinite Justice". It has the same specifications as "Type II".
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
Therefore, it is possible to attach "Fatum-01" included in "Infinite Justice" to "Type II" (and vice versa).
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
The connection specifications are unique and are not compatible with "Strike Freedom Gundam Type II" and other models.
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
The four main wings can be deployed, and by attaching beam blades, you can recreate "Slasher Mode".

As befits a machine in "Justice" series, it has a wide variety of weapon gimmicks!

Now, when it comes to "Justice" Gundams, their selling point is their wide variety of weaponry! In the "Type II", the addition of the aforementioned "Spitze Schwert Beam Horn" on the top of the head and “Volantes Slash Mode" has increased the number of attacks available. From here, we will compare the weapons of the Infinite Justice and introduce the beam cutters equipped on the legs and other weapons all at once!

INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
Comparison of "high-energy beam rifles". Although they are the same weapon in terms of settings, they are reproduced with new designs in Gunpla. The use of stickers on the red parts is common to both.
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
The Beam Carry Shield is also a weapon inherited from "Infinite Justice" to "Type II". However, the yellow part on the surface of the shield has changed from a sticker to a separate part.
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
The Beam Carry Shield has a common gimmick, and by attaching the beam effect parts, you can reproduce the beam shield activation state.
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
The shield can be equipped with a beam blade at the tip, or "Shining Edge Beam Boomerang" can be removed from the shield and held in the hand.
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
By removing some parts from the surface of the Beam Carry Shield and attaching lead wires, it is possible to recreate the firing state of the striking weapon Grapple Stinger. The gimmick around this shield is the same as that of Infinite Justice.
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
The lead wire can be fixed in a bent position. The action pose is impressive!
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
Draw your beam saber! The internal structure, "SEED Action System", allows the body to move freely, enabling you to strike dynamic poses.
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
The sabers can be connected together.
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
The beam cutter "Tonitrus Beam Heavy Slashing Leg" equipped on the legs has been reproduced to replace "MR-Q15A Griffon". Although the name has changed, the mechanism for attaching the beam blade remains the same.
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
The wide range of motion around the legs allows for dramatic split poses!

"Type II" is a high-quality Gunpla model with a variety of gimmicks and high mobility.

INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
On the left is "HG 1/144 Immortal Justice Gundam" from the same "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM" series. "Immortal Justice" shares the same frame as "Rising Freedom" and is equipped with a transformation mechanism that converts it into a flying mobile armor (MA) using the variable technology of "Murasame", making it a significantly different design from "Type II".
INFINITE JUSTICE GUNDAM TypeⅡ
Various "Justice Gundam" models on display. From left to right: "RG 1/144 Justice Gundam", "HGCE 1/144 Infinite Justice Gundam", "HG 1/144 Immortal Justice Gundam", and the latest "HG 1/144 Infinite Justice Gundam Type II" (only "RG 1/144 Justice Gundam" is painted).

I took a close look at "HG 1/144 Infinite Justice Gundam Type II". What did you think? First of all, I was impressed by the enthusiasm that went into recreating the main body, "Volantes", and even the common weapons with new molds, except for some of the effect parts.

In addition, not only does it have a variety of weapon gimmicks typical of the Justice series, but it also moves well and uses a material called "Real Metallic Gloss Injection" that enhances the metallic luster of the silver parts, which is another nice feature.

This Gunpla kit allows you to easily recreate a high-quality "Type II", so I recommend it to everyone!

Great impact

[Design]
I think it's very cool, and thanks to the mechanism, it can be posed in a variety of ways.

[Crafted]
I don't think there's much that's changed from Infinite Justice, other than the backpack, but the new molding and increased detail make it very well-constructed.

[Reproducibility]
In a way, this unit is even more of a two-dimensional lie than the Mighty Strike Freedom, so I don't think this item is very meaningful (lol). From the perspective of faithfully reproducing the movie, I'd give it about 2 stars.

[Durability]
I don't think there are any parts that are particularly prone to breaking.

[Ease of assembly]
I think the ease of assembly is standard among recent HG models.

[Overall review]
Of the new units in SEED FREEDOM, this one is likely to have the greatest impact. As a plastic model, it is of very high quality and no one will be dissatisfied. If you want to faithfully reproduce the movie, try your best to modify it
