HG-destroy-gundam

"HG Destroy Gundam" Review: "HG Destroy Gundam", a gigantic Gunpla that can transform into an MA, is assembled and thoroughly reviewed.

In this issue, I assembled "HG 1/144 Destroy Gundam", a Gundam Model Kits of the super-sized mobile suit that appears in "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY" and "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM" to check out its appeal!

The box is too big. ...... Compared to the common HG size "HG 1/144 Rising Freedom Gundam", this is so different!

Height is about 39cm! Anyway, it's huge ......!

First, a brief review of "Destroy Gundam" (model number: GFAS-X1).

This machine, which appears in "Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny", is a large mobile suit developed by the "Earth Alliance Forces" with the cooperation of the "military-industrial complex Logos". The model number "GFAS" means "Gressorial Fortress Armament Strategic" and it is categorized as a "mobile fortress" and is a large-sized machine that can transform into MA (Mobile Armor) form.

Since it requires an "extended" crew with high spatial awareness, Stella Loussier, a member of Earth Alliance Forces Special Forces, was a member of the crew and fought a fierce battle with "Freedom Gundam" of the main character Kira Yamato. Incidentally, it also reappears in the latest movie "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM"!

Here is the completed "HG 1/144 Destroy Gundam". Although the number of parts was quite large, it did not take that long to assemble because each part is large. It is my personal feeling, but I think it was assembled faster than assembling the same 1/144 scale RG (Real Grade) series.
HG-destroy-gundam
The backpack is also super huge. Color coding is excellent.
HG-destroy-gundam
A special pedestal is included and can be connected to the bottom of the backpack. However, the figure can stand on its own without using this pedestal. However, the weight of the backpack may cause the joints to loosen over time, so it is safer to use a stand to support the figure when displaying it.
HG-destroy-gundam
Compared to a 500mL plastic bottle. 1/144 scale, but much bigger than a plastic bottle. ......
HG-destroy-gundam
Compared with "HGCE 1/144 Freedom Gundam". Since "Freedom Gundam" is a general HG size, the size of the "Destroy Gundam" stands out.
HG-destroy-gundam
Compare the size with "HGUC 1/144 Psycho Gundam". The main body of "Psycho Gundam" is larger, but the height of "Destroy Gundam" is larger for the backpack.
HG-destroy-gundam
First, we looked at the size, and found that it boasts one of the biggest sizes in the 1/144 scale, with the exception of some models such as "HGUC 1/144 Neo Geong" released in the "Mobile Suit Gundam UC (Unicorn)" series.

Joint strength is tight! Excellent mobility and color coding.

From here, let's take a look at the main body of "Destroy Gundam".

The runner that serves as the frame is made of a hard material called "ABS" instead of the soft plastic material called "KPS" that is often used these days. The ABS connection strength is designed to be high (tight), so the joints did not become squishy under the weight of the body. However, ABS is not suitable for painting, so only exterior parts should be painted.

Close-up view shows that "200mm energy cannon Zorn Mk2" in the center of the face mask and "Igelstellung" on the left and right cheeks are color-coded by dividing the parts.
HG-destroy-gundam
The large caliber beam cannon "1580mm Multi-phase Energy Cannon Super Scylla" of the three large beam cannons equipped in the chest, the mouth of the cannon is beautifully reproduced.
HG-destroy-gundam
Each of the five fingers has movable joints, allowing for facial expressions. The muzzle of "5-armored split beam gun" has been reproduced on the tips of the fingers. This is a very "Psycho Gundam" like figure!
HG-destroy-gundam
Both arms are equipped with armor units. Its tip is equipped with a beam cannon "Sturm Faust". Clear parts are used for the green parts on the surface.
HG-destroy-gundam
Huge legs. The toes can be angled greatly to the left and right for excellent ground contact.

I looked at the body in detail, and I can only say that the color separation by part division is excellent. Also, as mentioned above, the joints are designed to be tight, and they stop exactly where you want them to. While many large-size Gunpla models can be a bit too much to handle when moving around, the posing is stress-free, which is a credit to the quality of the design.

HG-destroy-gundam
A large number of beam blade parts are included, and can be attached to "5-armored split beam gun" (fingertips) and the "Sturm Faust" (tip of the armored unit), etc.
HG-destroy-gundam
A beam blade can also be attached to "Thermal Plasma Cannon Nefertem 503", which is equipped with a total of 20 guns on the outer circumference of the backpack.
HG-destroy-gundam
Here it is with all beam blades installed. ...... great power!
HG-destroy-gundam
However, mounting the beam blades would further squeeze out the exhibit space.

Transformable into "Mobile Armor form (MA form)"!

In addition, this time, despite its powerful size, it can transform into an MA form. This form is also called "fortress form", and the engine mounted on the lower part of the backpack transforms it into a state in which it can fly in the atmosphere.

HG-destroy-gundam
Push in the head, contract the arms and turn over.
HG-destroy-gundam
In this state, move the backpack up and lock it.
HG-destroy-gundam
The eye-like parts are color-coded. Clear green parts are used here as well.
HG-destroy-gundam
A total of four "High Energy Cannons Aufprall Dreizehn" are mounted on the top. The angle can be changed up and down.
HG-destroy-gundam
The lower body is reversed front and back, and "claw parts, which were used for the kakato in the MS form", are lowered. If you replace the pedestal parts to reproduce the floating state, can be displayed in a floating state!
HG-destroy-gundam
Transformation into the fortress form is complete! Since it is firmly connected to the support pole, it can be displayed stably!
HG-destroy-gundam
It is very powerful even from behind!
HG-destroy-gundam
A large beam effect for "Aufprall Dreizehn" is also included. The total length of the figure is approximately 26 cm, and thanks to a special material called "polarized light molding", you can enjoy "color tone changes depending on the angle of the light source"!
HG-destroy-gundam
Arms are separable.
HG-destroy-gundam
Compatible with 3mm axis stands and can be displayed in a floating state.
HG-destroy-gundam
Deploy all guns!
HG-destroy-gundam
Reproduction of a scene from the movie "Freedom Gundam".
HG-destroy-gundam
When displayed together with "Freedom Gundam", the tension will soar!
HG-destroy-gundam
Expressing a gentle world.
HG-destroy-gundam
"Destroy Gundam" also appears in "Gundam Seed Freedom", so it can be displayed together with "Rising Freedom" and "Immortal Justice"!
HG-destroy-gundam
When displayed with other 1/144 scale Gundam plastic models, "Destroy Gundam" stands out for its size!
HG-destroy-gundam
This is very satisfying!

Despite its huge size, this is a good Gundam plastic model with a reasonable structure and a wide variety of gimmicks!

The joints are designed with high strength, so moving the model is stress-free, and it moves well despite its huge size. The large number of parts allows for good color separation, and the quality of the product is satisfactory.

I recommend this model to "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED" fans who can afford the space to display it!

Large Surprise Kit

This is a large-scale kit that we never thought would come out. The box is big, so unless it's a machine you really like, beginners shouldn't buy it.
It comes with numerous effects, and is characterized by the fact that it can be displayed in an impressive way. It's bigger than the PG, at an impressive 39cm Hg, 2.5 times the normal size.
It can also transform into MA mode, which was impressive in the movie. There are locking mechanisms in each part, so it remains firm even after transformation.
