In this issue, I would like to thoroughly compare and review the 2 "RG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver. 2.0" from the perspective of how it has evolved from past works!

"Ver. 2.0" does not use "Advanced MS Joint"
First of all, I would like to tell you that "Ver. 2.0" does not use "Advanced MS Joint" for the inner frame. The "Advanced MS Joint" is a special semi-completed runner, which was often used in the past RG series for skeletal frames, etc., where the framework was almost complete simply by detaching the parts. However, due to its delicate structure and the tendency for parts to fall off, it has been increasingly rejected in recent RG series. In this "Ver. 2.0," the "Advanced MS Joint" has been eliminated, and the internal frame is now assembled from scratch, just like in the previous MG (Master Grade) models.

Both "Ver.1.0" and "Ver.2.0" come with a "Core Fighter" that can be transformed into a "Core Block" to be incorporated into the main body of the Gundam. Just to realize this gimmick in 1/144 scale is amazing! The major difference between the new and old models is that the "Ver. 1.0" comes with a dummy "Core Block" so that two models can be displayed at the same time.
Weak points of "Ver.1.0" have been improved! You can feel the technological progress in the movement.

"Ver. 2.0" also touts 'an articulated structure that returns to the original design,' and a new structure has been adopted in which the parts that look like joints bend properly.

We have compared the body so far, and it is not only the change in molding color and design, but also the increased points of movement in "Ver. 2.0".
"Ver.2" has an amazing range of motion.
From here, let's compare the weapons and see the amazing range of motion of "Ver. 2.0"!

The saber grip of "Ver. 1.0" was divided into "for inserting into the back" and "for holding in the hand", but "Ver. 2.0" allows the user to hold the saber grip as is

The birth of the "strongest movable range" Gundam! However, is there a problem with the head?
We have thoroughly compared the new and old "RG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam". However, the only point that concerns me is that the vulcan on the head is buried. It is not that noticeable if you do not look at it close-up, but if you are concerned about it, this is considered to be the point of refurbishment.
The point that made me most happy was the improvement of the weak point of parts falling off. When I was moving the two figures around for the photo shoot, "Ver. 1.0" not only had parts falling off, but also had many problems such as the upper body coming off on its own and dropping weapons all over the place....... However, "Ver. 2.0" had no such problems at all. This alone is an indication of evolution, but the true essence of "Ver. 2.0" is undoubtedly its "strongest range of motion". The "core block" structure of the upper body is finely movable, and the flexibility of the shoulder area and limbs is highly appreciated. In terms of mobility, I think this figure can be called the perfect RG!

Fine details. The RX-78's joints move as much as possible.
Unlike the Gundam of my childhood where most of the joints didn't move, and the previous RGs that were weak and fragile, this 2.0 has very fine details and as much as this, the joints move. It already has a different feel.
However, there are a few minor disappointments, such as the yellow parts of the chest ducts, but as an RX-78, it seems to be a completed model.![]()
Too particular, regrettable model.
14 years after the first RG, Ver. 2.0 has finally been released.
This model is a 1/144 scale model with a lot of technology pushed into it.The biggest topic this time is the movable abdomen, which has a movable axis in the core fighter.
However, while the technology is certainly impressive, it is questionable whether it was really necessary to go to such lengths with the first Gundam to make the abdomen movable.
The reason is that the abdomen is difficult to move and cannot be used for posing, and even if the abdomen is not movable, other parts of the body can move, so the pose can be decided.
Also, this model cannot be assembled without the core fighter built in, so it is not possible to display both the core fighter and the Gundam. At the very least, I would have liked to see the operational abdomen parts and the transformable core fighter be separate, as in Ver. 1.0.

Beginners and blanks are not accepted!
This is a review by a light user who has not made plastic models in about 20 years!
I used to make 1/144, HG1/100, and BB Warrior models in the 90s as a child.[Design]
The details and proportions are very modern, and the internal structure is finished in a very cool way.
[Crafted]
There is no cutting out of the back side or hard-to-see places as a matter of course, and it looks good from all angles.[Reproducibility]
It is very elaborate.[Durability]
I had a hard time making it, and sometimes I had to repeat the same process over and over again, but it is very durable and I was able to make it with zero damage.
Even after completion, it can be moved around easily.[Ease of assembly]
It took me more than 6 hours to make this model kit, which was very difficult for my first Gunpla production in a long time.
The parts are small and the instructions were difficult to understand for me as an inexperienced user.[Overall comment]
I am very satisfied with the finished product.
The internal structure of the machine is visible, so I displayed half of the body with the machine visible.![]()
